The King of Fighters XII
The fighting games are one of the most popular genre in video games, and the Japanese Anime Art in such games has made many people obsessed with fighting games, one of such game is The King of Fighters.
The King of Fighters XII was released in 2009, which was the year of fighting games, there’s no denying it. It offers team based battles in 2D. The King of Fighters series is developed by SNK, which is known as using the same old but classic characters in the new games, thus, keeping the storyline powerful and effective, but in this edition of the game series, the players have been redrawn by adding so much to them including new moves and styles, which has made the game very special. Being a true fan and the loyal follower of the game, the fighting looks delightful to me and with really downright awesome sound effects, it has added to the pleasure that we seek by playing this game. The setting of the stage with its amazing 2D visual effect is toothsome too, with all its rock metal background music which makes you feel that you’re in the fighting scene of a really hard core fight movie. And the background scenes of the game are just like the other typical Japanese productions, which either doesn’t make any sense or it’s just plain ridiculous, but it oddly reminds me of my childhood, when I used to play the previous installments of the game, and it only should mean that King of Fighter franchise is a classic one. There are also few unlockable players but I’d have been really happy if they’d provided me with some hints as to how to unlock these players. And some of the players have been redrawn and been given new powers and a fighting style, for example, the player Iory Yagami has been given a new fighting style, and on the other hand a few players have lost their power and style which they were given in last few editions of the game, for example, Kyo, who was the main player in last few editions of the game now plays as his KOF 95 character. So if you’re a true KOF fan, you’d probably find few teams that you’d really like in terms of their new style and moves. But there’s also a lack of presentation in the main menu and in a couple of few other places like, the main menu is monochrome with a blue world globe revolving in the background and the New Time Romans fonts are used almost everywhere, which sort of put me off at first, but anyway, for a true KOF like me, this game is a real treat.
